U.S. Congressman Jim Himes (D-Conn.) speaks during a health care reform town hall meeting in Norwalk in September.

U.S. Congressman Jim Himes is scheduled to appear at Westport and Greenwich senior centers Wednesday to answer questions about how federal health care reform will impact seniors.

As a disclaimer, let’s just say it’s not surprising Himes and other Democrats are working hard to promote the health bill now that it has passed. If you listen to the pundits, how Americans perceive the law is likely to have a big impact on whether many Democratic lawmakers are re-elected. Among other effects of the bill, signed by President Obama last week, Himes is touting a provision to close what’s know as the “donut hole” in Medicaid coverage prescription drug benefits, a problem seniors have bemoaned for years.

In any case, here’s where and when:

Westport
Thursday, April 1 at 2:00pm
Westport Seniors Center
21 Imperial Avenue, Westport

Greenwich
Thursday, April 1 at 4:00pm
The Nathaniel Witherell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center
70 Parsonage Road, Greenwich

And for a — again disclaimer — glowing, self-congratulatory rundown on aspects of the law that will effect seniors, here is an info sheet about the law from the Himes office.
